The primary objective of this project is to identify food deserts using GIS technology and will focus on the Atlanta Metro area surrounding counties.
Success is defined as:
- Having a visual density of food resources in Clayton, Cobb, Dekalb and Fulton counties.
- Having a visual comparison of the densities to identify areas with limited access to grocery stores and over saturation of fast-food options.
- Generating results that provide insights that can be used to create policy at the county government level.
- Validation through comparative analysis by cross-checking the USDA Food Access Research Atlas.
